Going for Growth
Rosebud Finance, part of Lancashire County Council’s Business Growth Service, has announced new impact results showing an impressive £20.4million GVA contribution to the local economy.
Now in its 40th year, Rosebud has a strong track record of backing firms at key moments in their growth journey.
Finance from Rosebud over the last 12 months has helped Lancashire businesses grow sales, create jobs and generate millions in value for the county at a time when many SMEs still struggle to access the right finance through mainstream routes.
The new impact results show that Rosebud-backed businesses have recorded a £10.7m increase in sales and £58.5m total turnover.
The same cohort has generated a £4m increase in gross value added (GVA), with £20.4m total GVA flowing into the wider economy.
The supported businesses have also created almost 100 jobs and currently account for 483 employed roles across Lancashire.
Rosebud argues the figures underline the role that locally delivered growth finance can play in turning business ambition into real economic outcomes, particularly for companies that are established and trading, but not yet a straightforward fit for high street bank lending.
Brian Moore, cabinet member for economic development and growth at Lancashire County Council, said: “These results show why Rosebud has been around for 40 years and still matters.
“It is helping businesses across Lancashire to grow and create jobs, while also delivering wider economic value for the county.
“When we back local firms at the right moment, the benefits are felt well beyond the business itself, through supply chains, employment and stronger local communities.”
For many SMEs, the challenge is not a lack of ideas or demand, but the timing of finance.
Rosebud’s role is to bridge that gap, providing a route to finance and support that is rooted in an understanding of Lancashire’s economy, and the practical pressures firms face as they grow.
Amy King, investment coordinator at Rosebud, said: “We often meet businesses at the point where they are ready to move forward, but the usual finance routes are not working for them.
“Our job is to make the process clear, focus on the plan and the numbers, and support businesses to take the next step with confidence.
“The impact figures reflect what happens when growing firms can access the right support at the right time.”
Rosebud’s work supports priority sectors across Lancashire and reinforces the wider agenda of building a stronger, more resilient county economy by helping viable local firms invest, innovate and sustain good employment.
